Healthcare

This year, members of NUGW have had hundreds of conversations with you, our colleagues. Based on your feedback, it’s clear that Northwestern’s student healthcare plan does not meet our needs. Some of you have paid out of pocket for MRIs or have faced high premiums to add spouses and children to your insurance policy. Furthermore, changes in the kind of dental insurance options and the subsidies available to students have been made without clear communication and consultation with the graduate student body. And although graduate workers face significant mental health challenges, our counseling services lack the specialized care many of us require.

In order to organize effectively, we need to understand your needs. We therefore encourage you to fill out our short survey, through which you can share your experiences with healthcare at Northwestern. You can access the survey at this link.

NUGW will discuss the broad results of the survey, the findings of other research we have done into Northwestern’s insurance coverage, and our next steps at an upcoming Healthcare Town Hall. Details will be announced by email, on this website, and on our Facebook page.
